This was a very specific commission from a customer who wanted me to paint a pair of goldfinches attending a nest of chicks in an apple tree, the adult birds are of a genetic mutation which is bred within captive birds but can occasionally be seen in wild birds, the cock bird on the left is called a 'Cheveral' where what would normally be his red feathering underneath his beak is coloured white, and the hen bird has a pea sized/shaped white dot in a similar place, she is called a 'Pea Throat'.
